Goal Setting Activities For Kids

The power of setting and achieving goals is perhaps the most significant lesson a child can learn. Whether your child wants to be a doctor, a professional athlete, a teacher or a scientist, goal setting should be a key aspect of their lives.

Here are some goal setting activities for kids that will help in their development as children, and perhaps as adults as well:

Let their imaginations run wild:

Kids have unlimited imaginations. Get them to think about their goals and to use their imaginations to visualize what they want to achieve. Let them imagine what they would like to become, what they want to do, where they want to live, and who they want to be.

Writing goals down:

Get them into the habit of writing down things they want to achieve every week or every month. It can be really simple like what level they want to reach in the video game they’re playing, or how many points they want to score when they play sports, or how much of their pocket money they can save every week.

Once they get into the habit of writing down their goals for small activities, they will feel at ease with the idea of writing down their goals of the bigger things they want to accomplish. This may be one of the simplest goal setting activities for kids, but also the most beneficial.

Develop plans:

Once the kids have defined their goals, perhaps with your assistance, they must create a plan of actions that they must take to achieve their goals. This is an important factor of goal setting activities for kids. It will teach them that they will need to develop plans as to how to achieve anything.

Regularly checking whether they are on the right track will also teach them to remain focused, or to adjust their plans if it is necessary.

Remaining focused:

Get them into the routine of reading their list of goals every day, preferably before they go to bed and after they wake up. This will keep them focused on what their goals are and will get them to continually think about their goals.

Celebrate accomplishments:

Perhaps the most enjoyable and most rewarding of the goal setting activities for kids is to allow the kids to celebrate after achieving a goal. Give them something as a surprise reward for the dedication, focus and persistence they displayed during the process of achieving the goals.

Goal setting activities for kids should be fun and enjoyable. They also contain valuable life lessons for the kids that will serve them well right into their adult years.

Finding Ways To Save Time And Accomplish More Toward Goals

by: Connie Limon

A definition of time management might be a process of gaining flexibility and cutting back time. The advantage to having a time management plan is that we are loosing something that brings us reward and gaining something that brings us bigger rewards. We end up with a “no loosing” situation if our time management plan is right.

To develop a successful time management plan we must first evaluate our time. We must sit down and ask ourselves how long does it take us to eat? How long does it take us to get dressed and groom for work? How long does it take us to prepare the meals we have to eat? Everything we do takes a certain amount of time. You might start out by writing down just how much time it takes to do each of your very have to tasks each day.

Then sit back and evaluate your list. Are you wasting 10 minutes here and there on those have to items that could be used for something else?

Creating vs Reacting – Create Goals with Awareness

At any given moment, you are either a cause or an effect. Are you consciously creating your goals in life? Or have you become the effect of what other people create and merely respond to the fallout of their creations?

You either act or react. To act and physically manifest in the world is why you have a physical body. Otherwise, you would have just as well stayed in the world of spirit.

Living life fully involves making a conscious commitment to the act of creation. Do you head for the gym, or just jot down the umpteenth game plan of getting in shape? Do you send the manuscript to the publisher, or continue to polish it?

What Prevents You From Creating?

Goal Setting: The Baby Step Approach

Have you ever noticed how difficult it is to keep your New Year’s resolutions? After having set a number of lofty goals, the daunting task of following through with those initial commitments faces us all. We often end up frustrated and feeling guilty when we are unable to follow through on our good intentions and we fall short of our target. Many of us have even given up on the whole idea of setting well-intended goals, having come to realize that the time spent in frustration is not worth the effort. How would you like to begin transforming your life for the better this year with less effort and less frustration? I have great news for you. Rather than set major resolutions for 2007, how about setting a few goals for this next week? Just as a baby experiences life in its entire splendor one step at a time, you too should consider using the “Baby Step” approach to setting your goals. I often recommend to my clients that they place themselves in the shoes of an infant just learning to walk. When making positive transformations in your life, imagine that you too must take short steps in the form of specific goals that you could realistically accomplish within a short period of time. If you are new to goal-setting, rather than set lofty goals that you may or may not realize in 2007, start first by taking that initial step of setting and accomplishing goals within a one or two-week period of time. Most individuals are able to stay focused on short-term goals if the chances of success are high.
