Habits are the most overlooked thing about life. One of my mentors taught me that “People Form Habits, and Habits Form Futures.” MAN!!! What a POWERFUL statement.
We go through our life creating sets of habits that in the end will create the life we want to live. We create this habits unconsciously. You might don’t know but these habits are the things that are holding you back in life, so STOP blaming others for your failures.
I will give you few bad habits that you are probably conscious of right away.

If you have been trying to lose weight and control your eating unsuccessfully, then you are an expert at what doesn’t work. By now you have discovered that you have terrific willpower because you have been able to follow a programmed diet for several months many times over. Willpower is not the problem. You have more willpower than most people. Calorie counting and food combining is not the problem. You know more about food than some professionals. Give yourself a break and stop trying things that don’t work. Trying to do the same thing over and over again and expecting different results is the definition of insanity. So what can you do that is different? Start by making a list of what has not worked in the past and then write the opposite of those items. I have provided you with a lengthy list to start from (see below). As you read through it notice which items resonate with you. Place a check mark next to those items. You now have a list of things to do that will empower you.

Is there a better, free invention than the ‘to-do’ list? How many of you use to-do lists? If you’re organized and motivated enough to start (or even consider starting) a new business, I’ll bet you not only use to-do lists, but have one within arm’s length right now. Am I right?
I’ll admit that sometimes I get carried away. Don’t tell anyone, but I’ve even put important items on the list that I already completed, just so I could cross them off. Yes, I’ve earned the right to be laughed at, but I imagine some of you have done the same.
My friend laughed at me the other day because I put “get gas” on my list. He asked, “Are you really going to forget that if you don’t write it down?” No, of course I won’t, but in that moment I was able to articulate why lists are so important to me. Whenever I feel unorganized or even overwhelmed, a to-do list helps me relax. I can see everything that needs to be accomplished, prioritize my time, and decide what can wait for another day. Then, one step at a time allows me to get the big items knocked out first.
