The Cost of Fear - How fear limits your full potentials

Author: Dr. Tim Ong

Have you ever wanted to change your life but could not? No matter what you do, you cannot seem to overcome your fear? Fear is a HUGE stumbling block for a lot of people. It is an obstacle to your personal growth and greatly limits your ability to achieve your fullest potentials in life.

Fear can prevent you from making positive changes in your life. Sometimes even the smallest changes in life can seem like a big struggle because of fear. Each time you try to change, anxiety and stress creep into your system, and you simply gave up.

You may want to change your job or buy a new car or house but the thought of change, and the anxiety that accompanies it, soon discouraged you from even trying. So you end up stuck in the same situation and condition all your entire life.

Because of fear, you may not even be able to take small risks, such as making new friends, joining a fitness club, start a relationship or just being friendly with your neighbors. Fear can be extremely crippling. Some people are unable to live an ordinary life because of fear.

Managing Your Persistent Fears, Depression, And Anxieties

Everybody deals with anxiety and depression, however some people have a hard time in managing it. As a result, here is a brief list of techniques that a person can use to help manage their most persistent fears and every day anxieties.

When facing a current or upcoming task that overwhelms you with a lot of anxiety, the first thing you can do is to divide the task into a series of smaller steps. Completing these smaller tasks one at a time will make the stress more manageable and increases your chances of success.

Sometimes we get stressed out when everything happens all at once. When this happens, a person should take a deep breath and try to find something to do for a few minutes to get their mind off of the problem. A person could get some fresh air, listen to some music, or do an activity that will give them a fresh perspective on things.

A person should visualize a red stop sign in their mind when they encounter a fear provoking thought. When the negative thought comes, a person should think of a red stop sign that serves as a reminder to stop focusing on that thought and to think of something else. A person can then try to think of something positive to replace the negative thought.

What Are You Afraid Of?

Author: Kruti Parikh

Everyone is afraid of something. Some of us are scared of hairy spiders. Others are afraid of flying. And others are afraid to walk out their front door.

In some instances, fear can be helpful. It keeps us from taunting angry rattlesnakes and dancing on the edge of unstable cliffs. But all too often, fear keeps us from being successful.

In order to get the most out of life, we must understand that fear holds us back. There are risks around every corner, many of which we are blissfully unaware. But if we never take a risk, we’ll never get what we want out of life. This is why we must confront our fears and work to get past them.

Fear of Failure

“Many of life’s failures are people who did not realize how close they were to success when they gave up.”
– Thomas Edison

How to conquer the fear of taking action

Author: Morgan

History books are a long list of hesitations to act. Things turned from stagnation to chaos. Entire civilisations abide the constant of our past by not finding the strength to take action. For example, let’s take a look at perhaps one of the most dreadful acts of mankind the world has ever witnessed; the Holocaust, initiated by Nazi Germany; which meant the act of genocide of approximately six million European Jews during World War II, though much was in the planning phases prior to declaration of World War II. It is nothing but a clear abomination that the world turned its back upon knowingly. World and leaders alike stood aside and let crime happen under their blinded eyes; why? Was is worth rather letting millions die than standing up and taking action?

In my view, there was unquestionably an element of fear and it was the fear from taking action that ultimately blew way out of proportion that led to a massive world confrontation the world has not seen since. The question we must ask ourselves; is how do we prevent the behaviors of eliminating the fears in our world? What can we do to develop an attitude of not only confidence but also an attitude of passion to spread freedom and democracy? How do we instill leadership skills amongst ourselves to stand up for what we believe, through humility and nobility?

Overcome Your Shyness and Rejection Fears

Author: Royane Real

Are you shy? Does a fear of being rejected paralyze you socially? Do you need help in developing your social confidence? Learn how you can overcome your fear of rejection and develop the kind of confidence that attracts other people to you.

People who are socially confident aren’t bothered too much by getting rejected by somebody. For socially confident people who get rejected, there may be a momentary sting of emotional pain, but the fear of rejection doesn’t cloud their whole lives.

When socially confident people get rejected, they are quite likely to blame the other person. They will rarely blame themselves.

People who are not socially confident will react very differently to rejection. People who don’t have confidence in themselves will often assume that any rejection must be 100% their own fault. They are convinced that they got rejected because they are flawed. It doesn’t occur to them that perhaps the rejection occurred because the other person is a shallow jerk.
