Second Chances in Your Life

Have you ever asked yourself why the simple things in life seem so hard to learn sometimes? Why things that should be so easy, just seem to be so damn hard? What’s funny about it, is the answer to the next question. Who makes it so hard…guess who?

But you can change that by making the simple things in life the most enjoyable and rewarding. Having a competitive outlook on life, blocks you from experiencing the simple joy that life is all about; the sound of the wind, the smile of a new born baby or the song of a bird.

I’ve learned that how you approach your thoughts and decisions in life, has a lot to do with the outcome. It’s wise to be grateful for the simplest pleasures that life has to offer and not take for granted the love of a spouse or friend.

Change A Life In A Heartbeat

Copyright (c) 2009 Sahara Damore

I sat in on a class this week that discussed the amount of time it takes to beat stress in our lives. Turns out, as you probably already know, a single heartbeat. Literally though.

It takes just a single heartbeat to begin to bring us more into what is termed as a coherent heart rhythm. From this place of coherence we can make better decisions in our life that feel aligned to us because they come from the heart. And the signals of our own hearts recognize truth.

If, for any reason, you feel at a distance from your heart right now, try this:

Point to yourself. Go on, point to yourself as if you are referring to you to someone else. Where did you point? Chances are it was not to your earlobe, forehead or feet. It was probably to your heart. So, your body intuitively points to the heart when referring to itself. Interesting, eh? So, perhaps you are not as far away from your heart as you “thought”.

This week I had a doozie of an experience in the drugstore that proved to me, once again, the power of the heart and its instinctive healing powers.

I was standing in line at the checkout behind a woman probably in her early 50’s who pulled out a baggie of change to pay for her $8.18 worth of tissue, etc. I could tell she was feeling timid about the baggie, but I was completely fine and did not think a thing of it. She was a bit shaky while counting the change and fumbling the money, so I piped in by telling her gently that she could take her time and that I was in no hurry. The cashier then caught on and immediately began to help the woman count the change, and in fact, told the woman she would take care of the counting for her.

How to Master the Physical Patterns That Control Your Life

By Diana Fletcher

“During exercise, the brain produces pain-killing chemicals called endorphins and enkephalins. Certain endorphins and other brain chemicals release in response to exercise also produce a natural high.”
–Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 4th edition, Phyllis A. Balch, CNC

How are you sitting as you read this? Are you sitting up straight with shoulders back and neck aligned properly? Or are you slumped over with your chest caved in? How do you feel?

I’ll bet the person who is sitting up straight feels better than the slumper. And if you straightened up as you read these words, I’ll bet you felt better as soon as you moved.
Our bodies are meant to move. We live in this wonderful, natural machine, with all the units and parts synchronized to move perfectly in tune with each other. Sitting in one position for a long period of time is not a good thing. Your body does not like this.

To totally master this important component of gaining control over your life, you need to think about how you treat and move your body. How you carry yourself is crucial to how you will feel during the day and how you will experience your life.

If you wake up too tired every day because you didn’t get enough sleep, you are probably going to move slowly for the rest of the day, too tired to carry yourself properly.

Did you ever see someone walking with their head down, their steps slow and their whole bearing suggesting a withdrawn person? We assume this person is sad or tired or not feeling well. But what actually came first? The feeling of sadness or the way the person is carrying themselves? Perhaps what we interpret as a sign or symptom is actually the cause of the sad mood or the bad feelings that person is experiencing.

Your body needs you to do the following:

1. Feed it properly.
2. Drink lots and lots of water.
3. Move a lot.
4. Laugh.
5. Rest. Take breaks during the day.
6. Sleep. Make this a priority.

Straighten up. Smile, even if you don’t mean it at first. Your whole body feels differently when you do this. Walk a little faster. Swing your arms. And just for kicks, skip. How long has it been since you skipped? Remember skipping when you were young? There is something wonderfully uplifting about skipping and smiling, and of course, the best—laughing.

Moving your body in a healthy, happy way affects everything in your life. You send the message to your brain that you are happy and healthy. Your brain takes that signal and turns it into reality. You start feeling happier. You start feeling more energetic. You start feeling the strong urge to move your body in a healthy way–walking, exercising, dancing and swinging your arms a little more when you walk. You send healthier thoughts to every part of your body and it changes your mental and physical outlook completely.

Tune in to your body.

Your body will tell you what is going on if you just listen. Give it some help. Carry yourself proudly. Challenge yourself to have better posture. Smile more. Mentally you will be telling your body you are happy, and physically you give your body the same message. It is all connected. It is all working to help you live an outstanding life.

“The closest thing to a magic bullet for maintaining youth and optimal health is a well-balanced combination of exercise and proper nutrition. The entire body benefits from this formula, both physically and psychologically.”
–Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 4th edition

How to Master the Emotional Patterns That Control Your Life

By Diana Fletcher

“A still mind brings the infinite joy and love for which we were born.”
–Eknath Easwaren (1910-1999)

“Physical exercise can clear your mind and keep stress under control.”
–Prescription for Nutritional Healing, 4th edition, Phyllis A. Balch, CNC

“At the height of laughter, the universe is flung into a kaleidoscope of new possibilities.”
–Jean Houston

• What are you feeling right now?
• How would you describe your state of consciousness?
• What excites you?
• What do you feel passionate about?
• What makes you sad or happy?
• What makes you feel nervous or agitated?
• Why do we have such a mixture of feelings?

Our emotions, our mental activities, and our physical parts are all connected. We have patterns that influence every part of this connection.

Our physical and mental states all come together in creating our emotional state. When you take care of your mind and your body, you will take care of your emotions. We cannot separate any of these patterns. These patterns are all important parts of your life and so interconnected, that they cannot be separated without resulting in suffering. When you think in ways that are not positive or when you don’t take care of your body, your emotions end up all over the place. Then you may describe yourself as “stressed” or “depressed” or “anxious.”

You can master these emotions by taking care of the other important parts. By making sure your thoughts are aligned with what you truly want in your life, by making sure your physical needs are being met in a totally healthy fashion, you can create the emotional balance that sends you to a wonderful place—a place where you are living the life you truly want to live.

How do you achieve the healthy emotional state you want?

How to Master Mental Patterns That Control Your Life

By Diana Fletcher

“If you realized how powerful your thoughts are, you would never think a negative thought.”
–Peace Pilgrim 1908-1981, American Peace Activist

What are you thinking about? Right now. What are the thoughts running through your mind? What you are thinking about is your reality. Change your thoughts, and you can change your life.

Many times we think in a negative way. We think about what we don’t want and then wonder why we don’t get what we claim we do want.

Here are some examples:

You think, “I am so broke. I am fat. I am out of shape. My job sucks.”
And you know what? You stay broke, fat, out of shape, and in a job you hate.

In order to turn things around and move your life toward the place where your dreams can come true, you need to change your thoughts. Instead of, “I hate being broke,” you can change your thinking to, “I am glad I have enough money.” Instead of, “I am fat,” you can change your thought to, “I am so happy I am choosing to live in a healthier way.”

Here’s the fun part: You don’t have to believe it right away! All you have to do in the beginning is to start the process of changing the self-destructive talk that has been going on for a really long time. This is the talk that got you to an unhealthy place. Once you start changing the way you talk to yourself, you will notice how often you have been doing it. Pay attention to your thoughts. Sometimes we have been talking to ourselves in this negative way for so long, we don’t even notice it. Start noticing.
